I released Mingle 1 year ago today. I don’t mean to sound old (I’m 19), but time really flies by so fast. Mingle was the first major app I made, and I didn’t have any high expectations for it. Instead, I just wanted to see where I could get if I built an app from scratch, including development, design, and marketing.

What happened after launch was truly amazing. I got featured in articles on MacStories, TechCrunch, Lifehacker, MinimalMac, AppAdvice, and many others. I got interviewed on local media. I got job opportunities (I was still in high school). Most importantly, I got to see people use my app. More than 10K people so far. That’s truly an experience worth cherishing.

One year later, Mingle 1.3 is about to drop to users, including iPad support. But what’s really the future of Mingle?

Mingle 2.0

After Mingle 1.3, I’m going to be focusing my attention on Piggy. I’m really excited about this one, and I hope it goes well. But there’s still time.

As for Mingle, I have big plans. Not big plans as in iPad support, but big plans as in a reimagination. I’ve learned a lot in this past year, and I do truly believe that users need a much better contacts alternative than the one that comes pre-installed. And although Mingle is definitely a huge step forward, it’s not what it could be. Mingle 2.0 will be one more step towards the ideal contacts application. There’s nothing concrete yet, and that’s why I won’t make any empty promises. But I’m going to be sharing details as soon as they’re definite.

So, again, thank you for everyone who’s downloaded Mingle, and who’s going to download Piggy. You’re truly making a dream come true.
