I love music, and I love sharing the music I love. So here are some pretty dance-y tunes I’ve been listening to lately, listed in no specific order.

Peacemakers - Marcus Marr

Marcus Marr takes funk to a whole new level. This new track’s bassline is just killer.

Where Does This Disco? - YACHT

YACHT is a band that I’ve just started listening to a few weeks ago, and they’re really sweet. This is the song that got me hooked to their music, and I’m now in the process of listening through their discography.

Me, White Noise - Blur

Blur aren’t technically a dance band (at all), but this song really gets me moving. That heavy, deep bass is just wow. So good.

Deceptacon (DFA Remix) - Le Tigre

DFA is a label, but they’re also a culture. At least that’s how it feels to me. This remix by two of DFA’s founders is upbeat, funky, and just plain fun.

Dumb Disco Ideas - Holy Ghost!

Bass, claps, cowbells. What more do you need?

Ready For The Floor - Hot Chip

I love this song’s music video. I also love how unexpected the song is at some points.

How Deep Is Your Love? - The Rapture

The more you concentrate, the more you notice that there’s so many things going on in this song. And it works perfectly.

NY Excuse - Soulwax

Is it?

Yeah - LCD Soundsystem

How do you choose just one song from your favorite band? You don’t, really. I picked ‘Yeah’ because it’s the song that came to mind, but it’s not even my favorite LCD Soundsystem song. Honestly, every single track from all three LCD Soundsystem LPs—as well as from their EPs and singles—deserves to be listed here. James Murphy is a musical genius, and here’s a short exerpt from Pitchfork that gives you a sneak peak into his mind:

The “Yeah” single aims to sum up three decades of dance music, from Stevie Wonder’s classic clavinet on “Superstition” in the 70s to the hypnotic percussion and groove of 99 Records bands Liquid Liquid and ESG in the 80s to the squelching keyboards of Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers in the 90s.

Also, Murphy is the guy behind DFA Records, which is Marcus Marr, YACHT, The Rapture, and LCD Soundsystem’s record label.

Yeah.
